Free home security and personal safety advice will be offered at a roadshow in Abington Square in Northampton next week.

The visit, from Monday, August 3 to Wednesday, August 12, is one of a series of roadshows organised by the Northampton Community Safety Partnership as part of its ongoing Week of Action programme.

Officers from the borough council, police, fire and other agencies will be at the roadshow giving free advice on crime prevention, home security, waste and recycling, fire safety and vehicle security as well as tackling any local concerns raised.

There will be a host of activities and events throughout the week, including free property registering and bike marking, murder mystery and sports events for children and young people, a coffee morning and a community fun day.

In addition officers will be out and about talking to people living in the Mounts and Abington areas about issues of concern to them. Community Payback will also be working in the area during the week cutting back shrubs and litter picking.

Councillor Anna King, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for community safety, said: “These roadshows are really popular with people and there are some fantastic free events at this roadshow which will be a real hit with families. The roadshows are a great way of getting the community together and they give people the chance to talk to local agencies about any issues that are concerning them. I will be attending the event and look forward to seeing people there.”
