Friends are rallying round a Northampton couple whose toddler son has not been outside hospital since October because of his rare cancer.
Harvey Oldfield-Goode, aged two, from Queen’s Park, was admitted to hospital in Leicester on October 25 with pleuropulmonary blastoma in his left lung.
The 23cm tumour is so big it has pushed his heart and lungs across his body. He is about to start his fourth round of chemotherapy to stabilise him and faces a gruelling operation in the next few days.
Harvey’s dad, Simon Goode, said: “He’s had a rough time. He’s having to wear a scuba-type mask to force the air into him and he keeps trying to tell us he wants to go outside.
“But he’s so positive, sometimes you wouldn’t know he was so ill. He can have a laugh and he keeps high-fiving the nurses when they come to see how he is.”
Friends of Mr Goode and Harvey’s mum, Tina Oldfield, are organising fund-raising events to support the couples’ stay in Leicester.
Sara Smith is organising a Facebook auction under the name Team Harvey, and a fun day at The Romany pub in Trinity Avenue on February 17.
