Robbers pulled a woman from her mobility scooter and injured her in Northampton town centre as they tried to grab her handbag.

Two men approached the woman and demanded she give them the bag in Wellington Street on Thursday, June 2, between 2.45pm and 3.15pm.

They then attempted to pull the bag from the scooter but were unable to, at which point they pulled the woman and her scooter, causing her to fall.

The victim, who was in her fifties, suffered significant bruising to her side, arm and face, according to police.

The men are both described as white and in their late teens, with slim builds and dark brown hair.

Both were wearing jeans and one of the men was wearing a white T-shirt.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to two young people who helped the woman get back on her scooter, as it is believed they may have seen the offenders leaving the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
