A group of at least 10 caravans have pitched up in a Northampton park this morning

The caravans arrived in Dallington Park, off Harlestone Road, shortly after the grass in the park was freshly cut.

Police have already attended the scene after they received several calls from nearby residents at around 11.20 this morning (Friday) and Northamptonshire County Council’s Countywide Traveller Unit (CTU) has been informed.

Barry Reynolds, a nearby resident whose property overlooks the park, said: “We looked out of our window to see somebody had cut the grass all nicely, then all of a sudden we looked again and there were caravans coming in.

“It looks like they are already making themselves very comfortable and people nearby are not happy. Some have parked right next to the children’s play area.”

Another passerby said some of the children on the encampment had shouted abuse to her and a colleague. She added that she suspected a parking barrier had been left down, allowing entrance to larger vehicles.
