Greens Norton Community Choir has raised more than £4,000 in eight months by encouraging family and friends to donate to fundraising website Localgiving.com.
The choir took part in Localgiving.com’s recent Grow Your Tenner campaign which matched donations with a pot from the government’s Office for Civil Society.
The choir managed to raise £2,000 which has been doubled by Localgiving.com.
The money will be used to subsidise the fees of local people who would like to join the choir, but cannot afford the small membership fee.
Jonathan Kingsleigh-Smith, Greens Norton Community Choir’s founder and chairman, said: “Localgiving.com helps communities like ours to help themselves.
“It identifies us as part of a wider community of charities on-line, who, together, are providing a huge support network to vulnerable people in our area.”
