The centre of Northampton will be transformed into a motor racing fun day as Northampton Borough Council brings the buzz of the Grand Prix to the town today.
Formula 1 fans can enjoy a wide range of Grand Prix activities, taking place between 10am–4pm on Sunday.
The entertainment will be centred on Abington Street and the Market Square and will include pit stop challenges, racing car simulators, photo opportunities with F1 cars and activities for children. There will be plenty of other attractions, with stands from the Mercedes Formula 1 team, Silverstone Circuit and the Richard Sanders Group.
Trainee race mechanics from the National College for Motorsport will have a display car and information on how to pursue a career in motorsport.
And the Endeavour Rally, a charitable event that encourages disabled participation in motorsport, will set off from the Market Square when the flag drops at noon, drive to Silverstone Circuit and return to the Square at 3.30pm.
Northampton Borough Council leader David Mackintosh said: “I hope people will come into Northampton to celebrate our connections with the Grand Prix and take part in the fun activities for Formula 1 fans to enjoy.”
