Garage customers may be able to help a police investigation after a paramedic was hit by a car in Northampton, breaking his leg in several places.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a paramedic was hit by a car by this BP garage in Kingsthorpe.

Northamptonshire Police is appealing for information after the EMAS employee, named as Michael Ryan, was struck by a red car in Kingsthorpe, sometime between 2am and 2.30am on Sunday morning.

The incident took place at the BP garage in Harborough Road and CCTV shows there were customers present at the garage at the time.

Investigating officers are now appealing for them to contact police.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being held in custody for questioning.

Blanche Lentz, General Manager at East Midlands Ambulance Service said Mr Ryan was currently waiting for surgery to pin his leg after suffering multiple breaks.

He said: “We will not tolerate violence or abuse against our staff and will work with Northamptonshire Police to ensure those who break the law face legal consequences.”

Mr Ryan has been a paramedic with the service for one year and seven months helping patients across Northamptonshire.
