Fundraising night tribute to Northampton drag artist raises over £1,000 for charities
On Sunday (November 19), Dave Greenaway, 32 of Coventry hosted a charity cabaret evening for his cousin, Adam Richards - also known as Candie Van Cartier - 29, of Northampton, who passed away in October.
The night, which took place at the Boston, raised money for mental health charity, MIND as well as Mermaids UK, which aims to raise awareness surrounding gender nonconformity.

Hide AdHe said: "My charity night went brilliant, it couldn’t have went better. We had six amazing drag artists with Miss Wilma Fingerdoo as our hostess who was exceptional.
"I managed to raise £1,110.83 to be split between Mermaids UK & MIND, peoples generosity is truly heart-warming and I know Candie aka Adam would have loved the evening.
"I would also like to say a huge thank you to Danny Edwards at The Boston who I reached out to a few weeks back with the idea for a charity night who has been nothing less than a diamond in all he has done."
Candie, who was well known in the Boston, was known for being "unique" and for his performed in the competition, Drag Queens of London.
The charity cabaret night included a drag queen performance as well as a game show-style raffle where Dave called audience members to the stage to enter a £100 prize draw, donated by Dave himself.
