A girls’ football team in Northampton is appealing for sponsorship to help raise money for a trip to Malta to play in a series of friendly matches.
Stuart Drage, manager of Parklands Tigers Girls Under 16 team, has written a letter to all Premier League football clubs asking for help to pay for the trip due to take place in June next year.
Mr Drage said: “We are desperately trying to raise funds to pay for flights and we are to undertake various fund-raising projects over the next few months.
“The first of these is on October 19 when we will be having a fancy dress Halloween party. As part of the night we are going to have an auction and are looking for items that we can auction.”
Mr Drage is appealing for the football clubs to provide a signed shirt or ball which can then be auctioned to raise money for the trip.
The Parkland Tigers Girls play in the Northamptonshire Women’s and Girls Football Lague and it will be their last year in junior football.
Parklands Tigers was formed in 1985 and girls’ football was introduced to the club in 2004.
The club has achieved great success over the years and won the Northamptonshire Women’s league cup in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The team play on Parklands Playing Fields in Northampton.
