Rushden party week is promising 10 days of fun for all ages and it gets under way today (Friday).

This will be the fourth year that an extended week of events has been organised for the town, with Get To Know Rushden being the original event back in 2013 before it changed to Rushden party week last year.

All events are free to attend with Rushden Town Council providing the funding for events as part of its community service activity.

The annual event is organised by a committee of several town councillors who have been holding meetings attended by up to 30 other representatives from the town in the run-up to it.

The fun kicks off today (Friday) with the soap box derby starting at 7pm at Rushden Hall Park as well as discos for children aged five to 10 followed by ages 11 to 17 at Rush 2 The Den in Fitzwilliam Street.

Saturday will see Independents’ Day celebrated between 11am and 2pm in Rushden High Street as well as puppets in the park from 2pm to 4pm at Trafford Park.

Entertainment on Sunday (July 3) includes an open day with cream teas between 11am and 4pm at Rushden Station.

Other activities during the week include an open evening at the Salvation Army, tours of Rushden Hall, a tea dance, an evening with Dr Busker and a junior talent contest.

Saturday, July 9, will see the ever-popular Party In The Park taking place between 1pm and 10pm at Hall Park.

And then party week will come to a close with a summer party concert by the Six Week Community Singers at 6.30pm on Sunday, July 10, at Heritage Chapel & Halls.
