Long-serving Northampton Town Football Club director and former sponsor David Jackson has left the club to concentrate on ‘expanding his business’ in Spain.

A Cobblers spokesperson has confirmed Mr Jackson, known to be a close friend of chairman David Cardoza, quit the board of the club last week.

The estate agent partner whose business, Jackson Grundy, has ten outlets and a head office in Northampton was unavailable for comment today.

However, a Cobblers spokesman said: “David has been expanding his business and spending more and more of his time in Spain.

“Given that, David leaving the board was not a surprise and was expected.

“We thank David for his time as a director and look forward to seeing supporting the team at Sixfields when his business commitments allow.”

Jackson Grundy previously sponsored Cobblers before the University of Northampton signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the club in 2014.

On Wednesday, Mr Cardoza revealed the club was in the process of being sold to an as yet unnamed Indian consortium.
