A former employee of a delivery company who has admitted stealing more than £300,000 worth of mobile phones has been told to expect a jail sentence.

Zygimantas Bacevicius, of Pine Ridge, Southfields, Northampton, pleaded guilty to stealing the mobile phones when he worked for TNT on May 26.

Northampton Crown Court heard the 25-year-old arranged for a delivery assignment to be sent to his home address.

All the mobile phones, worth a total of £310,264.88.

His Honour Judge Timothy Smith said any breach of trust by an employee was a very serious offence.

He said: “I have to warn you that custody is likely to be at the forefront of my mind. A custodial sentence is the most likely option.”

The case was adjourned until next month to allow for a pre-sentence report to be carried out.
