Private schools in Northampton are advising parents from Great Houghton School, which closed last week, they still have places for September.

Parents of more than 300 pupils, including teenagers half-way through their GCSEs, have been left without a school after Great Houghton School Ltd went into administration.

Quinton House School, Pitsford School and St Peter’s Independent School in Northampton have all contacted parents of children at Great Houghton to inform them of the places available for September.

Northamptonshire County Council is also believed to be offering support to parents to inform them of any places available in state schools in the town.

Quinton House Headmaster Ben Slade said: “We are open throughout the summer and can offer advice and guidance to parents to help them make informed decisions about their children’s futures.

“We were all saddened to hear of the closure of Great Houghton School. This must be very distressing news for the young people, their parents and of course for the staff who now face an uncertain future.

“Understandably, we have received many enquiries from parents over the last few days. In order to make sure we support everyone who might need it, my team will be in school all the way through the summer from 9am to 3pm Monday through to Friday.”
