Three cheers for panto season!

Camp comedian Julian Clary heads an all-star cast in the Derngate's lavish performance of Dick Whittington, which has its opening night tonight.

Julian is playing the Spirit of the Bells, who presents young Dick with a cat to help guide him in his quest to find his fortune, and is accompanied for the third time in pantomime by Laura Evans who will play Alice, Dick's love interest.

No pantomime would be complete without a Dame and this year West End star Tony Jackson will filling the role, and joining the cast from his stint in the West End production of Mamma Mia is Ben Evans, who will be playing Dick Whittington.

The show will run until January 14 at the theatre in Guildhall Road, Northampton. Tickets are priced from 13 to 21 with concessions available. To book, call 01604 624811.

l PANTO comes to Oundle next week when quirky theatre group Oddsocks presents its wacky new version of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.
