Striker Diggin signs new contract
Steve Diggin is staying at Corby Town.
The Northampton-based striker signed a new one-year contract at Rockingham Triangle last night.
And mananger Graham Drury was delighted that his star striker had chosen to commit himself to the club for another year.
"Obviously I'm very happy that Steve is staying with us rather move on somewhere else," he said.
"After he did so well for us last year there was always going to be interest in him from other clubs."
Former Cogenhoe striker Diggin's 30 goals in his first season at Rockingham Triangle kept the Steelmen in the BGB Southern League Premier Division and earned him both the players' and supporters' player-of-the-year awards.
After speaking with two sides – and turning down an offer from one – Diggin committed himself to Corby.
Meanwhile, Les Hornby has quit as manager of UCL Premier Division side Wellingborough Town.
His decision to step down as first-team boss at the Dog & Duck came at the same time that previous chairman Martin Goode stepped aside with David Clingo returning to that role.
Hornby revealed he, his assistant Nick Verity and reserve team manager Steve Kirchen felt their positions had become "untenable" following the departure of Goode.
Northampton-based Kirchen has already joined Spencer.
