Premier League headlines: Stoke City, Pompey, Man Utd, Chelsea
Here are the Barclays Premier League stories making the news headlines today, Monday, June 23, 2008.
Arshavin favours move to Spain
Russia ace Andrei Arshavin says he has offers from England and Germany, but his preference is to play in Spain.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and Newcastle have all been mooted as admirers of Arshavin, while Barcelona are rumoured to see the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker as an ideal replacement for Deco.
"I know that I have offers from England and Germany, but what I really want is to play in the Primera Liga," he said. "It's the championship that I have always followed, I like how football is played there. But for now, I have no offers from Spain."
Stoke City: Moroccan striker considers move
Moroccan striker Bouchaib El-Moubarki says he is considering a move to Stoke City.
El-Moubarki was part of Morocco's Africa Cup of Nations squad earlier this year and also featured in a 2010 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda at the weekend.
"Some of my team-mates in the Morocco squad who play in England have recommended this move to me," El-Moubarki told Le Matin.
Portsouth: Baros wants to sort out future
Milan Baros is to discuss his future with Lyon in the next couple of weeks, according to the striker's agent.
Baros, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth, is expected to leave Stade de Gerland this summer.
Bolton, West Brom and Werder Bremen have all been rumoured to be considering a move for a player valued at 4.5m, with his agent Pavel Paska, saying: "We will start solving his future as soon as he returns from his vacation," Paska said.
Manchester United: Real pledge 'not to interfere'
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has stressed they would not "interfere or create any problems" for United.
Madrid's public courting of the Portugal winger has outraged United, who have already lodged a complaint with FIFA over what they perceive are attempts to unsettle the 23-year-old.
Calderon claims they will not make a move until they are given encouragement, saying: "We will not make a move until the team (Manchester United) says they want to sell the player. Right now they are saying the contrary and there's little we can do.
Chelsea: Ballack may retire after Blues
Germany captain Michael Ballack admits Chelsea may be his last club as a professional footballer.
The 31-year-old has one year left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge and he revealed he would be happy to negotiate an extension to take him into the twilight of his career.
"I can imagine it (ending career with Chelsea). I will be 32 in September and still want to play two or three more years at this level," he told Germany's Welt newspaper. "What comes next remains to be seen."
