Finalists announced
Eight shorts have been selected by the judges for the finals of Film Northants 2009.

It is the second year of the Chronicle & Echo short film competition, run in conjunction with Vue Cinema, and the bar has already been raised.
The judges viewed hours of footage and watched every single entry several times, before deciding on the shortlist.
Once again there was a wide range of entries including horror flicks, gangster movies, musical montages, political features, comical sketches and true life stories.
Themes of revenge, death, exploitation, isolation and intrusion were all explored from film makers across the county of all ages.
The judges - producer Becky Adams of Reelscape Films, University of Northampton film lecturer Tim Coley, Vue cinema manager Ryan Reed and our features editor Lily Canter - were looking for well rounded short films, with a strong beginning, middle and end. They also looked at whether each aspect of the film such as the music and editing worked well together and whether it told an interesting or moving story.
Lily said: "All four judges commented that the standard of films this year had definitely risen. We found it so difficult to narrow it down and wished we could put forward all of the entries. However in the end we decided on eight strong finalists.
"We originally set out with three categories - fiction, non-fiction and schools but although we were inundated with fiction entries, unfortunately there was not enough films received into the other two categories. Therefore we placed all of the films into an open category and selected eight finalists from this, which is how the competition was run last year.
"There is definitely a more serious tone running through the entries this year and all the films give viewers something to think about.
"I would like to congratulate everyone who took part and thank them for making it a successful and competitive contest for the second year running."
The films will now be put to a public vote and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. This year the competition is also introducing the prestigious Judges' Choice award.
The prizes include a large flat screen television, film industry workshops, cinema passes and movie merchandise.
All of the shortlisted films will be screened at a red carpet premiere at Vue cinema in Sol Central, Northampton on September 22 in front of an audience of invited guests. This will be followed by an after show party at St Peter's Church in Marefair.
