Competition entries revealed

All of the Film Northants 2009 contenders are now available to view.

The lights are down, the cameras have stopped rolling and now is the all important moment for the entrants of Film Northants 2009.

The deadline for the short film competition has passed and this week a panel of judges will shortlist the best films before they are put to a public vote.

Films have been flooding into the Chronicle & Echo for the past five months in the second year of this grass roots short film contest.

Competition co-ordinator Lily Canter said: "The calibre of films this year has been particularly high and there is definitely a dark theme running through all of them. Crime, suffering, revenge, guilt and paranoia are regular themes and make for very interesting viewing."

All of the entries are available to view by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page, and the final shortlisted films will be announced in the paper and online early next week.

The finalists will all have their films screened at a special red carpet awards ceremony at Vue Cinema, Sol Central on September 22.

The first, second and third prize winners - as voted for by the public -will be announced on the night, alongside a Judges Choice winner.

The prizes include a large flat screen television, cinema passes and industry workshops.

The awards show will be followed by an after show party at St Peter's Church in Marefair.

There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to win tickets to the screening and aftershow party, with further details in the Chron and online next week.
