Neighbour, Jack Hart, of Park Hill Road, said he woke up this morning at about 6.30am because the fire, in his neighbour’s garden, was really bright and lit up his bathroom.

He said: “There were purple flames, which must have been from gas canisters in the caravan. There were two explosions which damaged my neighbour’s fence and the caravan.

“No one else’s garden has been affected but one explosion nearly hit our fence.

“The flames at one point were really high.”

A spokeswoman said a house had to be evacuated as a result until the blaze was under control.
