Vandals have been blamed for damage caused to a cricket pitch after cars were repeatedly driven across it.
Tyre marks clearly show where cars have been driven over the cricket square at Irthlingborough Cricket Club in Windmill Road.
The damage took place on Saturday and the club is appealing for help in identifying those responsible for it.
A statement from the club said: “Our cricket square was vandalised late yesterday by cars being repeatedly driven over it.
“There is a lot of hard work and time by our groundsmen that goes into keeping this up to the standard required even through the closed season.
“We also spent a lot of money on ground treatment at the end of the season.
“The damage is so bad, it may be difficult to get it ready for the start of the season.
“The police have been informed.”
