The elections for the new commissioner to replace Adam Simmonds take place on Thursday May 5.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “This post has been important in delivering additional funding streams to the voluntary and community sector through the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.

“Many local voluntary and community organisations have concerns about how the future will affect their organisations and the communities they serve. Whether you are from specialist domestic abuse or a local residents association, this event gives an opportunity for you to quiz Police and Crime Commissioner candidates about your concerns.

“Between 6pm and 7.15pm participants will be in small group activities with candidates to hear about their priorities in the role with the opportunity to discuss your concerns. If you would like to attend this please book a ‘free group and hustings ticket’.

“Between 7.30pm and 8.30pm each candidate will be given five minutes to talk. Following this candidates will be asked questions submitted in advance from Voluntary and Community sector representatives in a question time session. If you would like to attend this part of the event only please book a ‘free hustings ticket’,” the spokeswoman added.

Questions must be submitted by noon on April 22 to be considered for the event to info@northamptonshirerec.org.uk and should include the question, the name of the person submitting the question and the organisation that they are from. Questions will also be accepted from those not able to attend the event.

This event is a collaboration between Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council.
