A pensioner had her bag stolen as she walked through a Northampton shopping centre.

The 79-year-old was walking down the foot ramp towards the bus stops at the Weston Favell Centre at about 11.40am on Sunday when she was robbed.

She noticed a man coming towards her before she was knocked on the shoulder and had her handbag taken from under her arm.

The bag was found later, but the woman’s purse was missing.

The man is described as having a Mediterranean appearance and was in his late teens to early 20s.

He was about 5ft 5in with a very slender build.

He was wearing a dark woolly hat and a dark tracksuit.

Witnesses, or anyone who knows anything about this incident, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
