Fire services say A428 is closed "until further notice"

A main road in and out of Northampton will be closed "until further notice" on Monday after following a serious crash.

Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue are advising drivers to avoid the A428 Bedford Rd at Little Houghton which is is currently blocked due to a serious collision.

Reports say a lorry and a car have been involved in the crash, just before noon.

A Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said: "Our fire crews are still on scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A428 between Little Houghton and Great Houghton.

"Fire Crews from Mereway and Moulton were called to the incident a little after 11.30am this morning and are currently working with police and ambulance crews at the scene.

"The A428 remains closed in both directions and we advise that the area is avoided until further notice."
