Dog rushed to vet’s after man allegedly poured alcohol into its mouth in Northampton park

A man has been arrested on suspicion of permitting unnecessary suffering to an animal after alcohol was poured into a dog’s mouth in a Northampton park.

Police officers were called to the Racecourse at about 3pm on Saturday, after receiving reports of alcohol being given to a dog which looked unwell.

On arrival officers found the dog and took it to the vets for treatment.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of permitting unnecessary suffering to an animal. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the Racecourse on Saturday afternoon and saw this incident.
