A 21-year-old man from Northampton who travelled at speeds of up to 90mph through an estate in the town in an attempt to evade police has admitted a dangerous driving charge.
Jordace Baptiste, of Hood Street, The Mounts, Northampton, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday after he was charged with a number of offences relating to an episode of driving on October 22.
The court heard that Baptiste was asked to stop by police when he was driving a VW Golf in Gayton Road in Northampton.
However, Baptiste sped off in an attempt to get away from the officers and travelled towards the village of Milton Malsor.
Julie Costello, prosecuting, said Baptiste travelled at speeds of up to 90mph in residential roads such Collingtree Road, Rowtree Road and Resthaven Road in Collingtree.
Ms Costello said that Baptiste travelled the wrong way round a roundabout and on the wrong side of the carriageway, forcing motorists to take evasive action.
Baptiste pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with the licence and driving without any insurance.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction in the case. Baptiste was remanded in custody until his appearance at Northampton Crown Court on January 5.
