A robber who knocked three women over and stole their handbags as they were walking along a Northampton street has been given a four-and-a-half year jail sentence.

Steven Winters, aged 31, carried out the robberies on three women in Wellingborough Road at 6pm on January 13.

Northampton Crown Court heard Winters was riding a bicycle when he carried out the robberies and caused injuries to all three women after pushing them over from behind.

Winters, who was arrested by police near to the scene, stole iPhones, bank cards and headphones.

His Honour Judge Timothy Smith sentenced Winters, of Scott Road, Corby, to 54 months in jail for each robbery offence, to be served concurrently.
