Woman’s handbag stolen during robbery at Northampton bus stop

A woman who was waiting at a bus stop near Northampton Railway Station was pulled to the ground and had her handbag stolen by a robber.

The woman was waiting for a bus in Black Lion Hill with her friend when she was approached by a man who asked them for a 20 pence piece, which they gave him. The man then snatched the victim’s handbag, pulling her to the ground, before running off with the bag.

The robbery happened on Wednesday, 19 March, between 10.45pm and 11.15pm.

The robber is described as being of middle eastern appearance, 5ft 9in to 6ft, with a slim to medium build. He was aged 25-30 years old and was wearing a yellow high-visibility sleeveless jacket, with a dark coloured top underneath, and dark trousers.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
