A 43-year-old woman was dragged across a road and hit over the head after she attempted to stop a robber from stealing her bag.
The woman was walking near the junction of London Road and Southfield Avenue in Far Cotton, Northampton, when she felt someone tug at the bag on her shoulder.
The woman then took a tighter grip of the bag and tried to pull away and shouted for help.
The robber then demanded she give him the bag and she refused. He ran off, pulling her across the road towards a silver car. The woman fell to the floor letting go of the bag and the man hit her over the head with it before running off.
The robbery took place at 10pm on Thursday, October 10. The robber is described as a 5ft 9in white man, between 22 and 27 and with a medium build. He was wearing a light blue hooded top, with the hood up, and grey tracksuit bottoms.
