A yob wearing a Tutankhamun hat was part of a gang which attacked a victim in Northampton town centre, police have said.

Police have made an appeal following the robbery, on Marefair, close to the bus stop next to Sol Central, between 7.05pm and 7.30pm on Saturday. The victim was approached by a group of five Asian boys, believed to be around 12 to 15 years old.

They then attacked him, causing “slight injuries”, and tried to pull his rucksack.

However, they were then scared away by a passer-by and ran off towards Gold Street.

A police spokesman said: “One of the youths was wearing a distinctive blue ‘last king’ hat with a Tutankhamun logo on the front.”

Witnesses can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
