A man attacked a Tesco security guard in a drunken and unprovoked late night attack, a court heard.
James Howell confronted the man outside the supermarket’s branch in New Street, Daventry, just as the store was closing at midnight on September 15.
Howell, who was “clearly drunk,” made a complaint about the supermarket, before grabbing the security guard around the neck and punching him in the face.
The guard managed to pin Howell to the ground until police arrived.
The 24-year-old, of Hawke Road, Daventry, admitted common assault at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.
He also admitted to being in breach of a suspended sentence for assault, actual bodily harm and common assault. He will be sentenced next month.
