A driver with more than £100 of stolen diesel in his boot has been arrested after an off-road chase around the outskirts of Northampton.
The driver of the green MG ZS was pursued by Northamptonshire Police after failing to stop for officers, and went off road near Sixfields.
He eventually decamped and was arrested after trying to make off on foot, in the incident earlier this afternoon.
Tactical pursuit officer, PC Dave Lee, revealed details of the chase on Twitter.
He said: “We joined the pursuit around Duston area. [We] also had the dog unit behind us as well as we pursued the MG.
“Vehicle went on the wrong side of the road near Sixfields and went off road.
“Driver then decamped and after a short foot chase was detained and arrested.
“Involved in over £100 worth of fuel theft from a petrol station over a week ago. And it gets better. He’s disqualified from driving. I can see the charges racking up.”
The police’s BMW estate became trapped in mud after the chase, and was towed out by a helpful Anglian Water driver.
