A man has been arrested in connection with two knifepoint robberies in Wellingborough, which the police believe may be linked.
The man was arrested today (Wednesday) in connection with a robbery in Thomas Street, Wellingborough on Sunday, which saw a man stabbed in the arm and a further robbery in Tithe Barn Road, Wellingborough yesterday (Tuesday), where another man was left with cuts to his neck and finger.
Detective Inspector Ali Farr, who has been leading investigations into the two incidents, reassured Wellingborough residents that knife crime in the town was very rare.
She said: “Any robbery we see where a knife is involved is very unusual. It is even rarer that a knife is actually used during a robbery.
“So I would like to reassure residents of Wellingborough that knife crime in the town is not a daily occurrence.”
Both of the robberies saw the victims have their mobile phones stolen.
Witnesses to either incident, or anyone with any information them, can call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
