Two men armed with an axe and a baseball bat robbed a Post Office delivery driver and escaped with a significant amount of cash contained inside a secure box.

The robbery happened today at about midday at the Post Office in Cross Street, Moulton, Northampton.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “Two armed men approached a delivery driver on Cross Street and demanded money.

“Cross Street was closed briefly, but has since reopened.

“This was an isolated incident, which officers are investigating. “

It is believed the men used a Black Audi TT, with a registration number similar to KV58ULJ or KV58 UEJ, during the getaway.
