A Polish woman was punched in the face and kicked after she fell to the ground in what is believed to be a racially motivated and unprovoked attack in Northampton.
The 28-year-old woman was walking along Tarncroft, across Greenfield Avenue, onto Broughton Place, in Eastfield, on Sunday shortly after 10.30pm, when she was followed by a group of three people.
One of them shouted racist abuse at the woman before punching her in the face. She fell to the ground and was then kicked and sustained injuries to her face and bruising to her ribs.
Detective Constable Karen Bailey said: “This was a seemingly unprovoked attack on a lone woman. We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time to get in contact with us so we can bring the offenders to justice.”
The attacker is described as a white man in his 20s of average build, with green eyes and an English accent. He was wearing a woolly hat, jeans and a black sweater which he used to conceal his face.
He was with a slim white man in his 20s and a slim white woman, also in her 20s, with dark brown, very long hair.
