A MASSIVE cannabis factory estimated at £500,000 has been discovered by police officers on the Royal Oak Industrial Estate in Daventry.

Officers found the factory producing the class B drug in an industrial unit on Lanchester Way.

About 600 mature plants were discovered in the building with more than 1,000 found in total including younger plants.

Sergeant Sam Dobbs, from the Daventry Safer Community Team, said: “We were investigating a report the premises was insecure.

“From there and through further investigations, it became clear that this was being used for the cultivation of cannabis.”

There was an overnight police guard, while forensics were on site yesterday morning.
