A pensioner had her handbag stolen and was pushed over by a mugger who attacked her in a Northampton street.

The 75-year-old was walking along Barry Road near the junction with Wellingborough Road in Abington at about 6.45am on Friday January 24 when she was attacked.

The man approached her and spoke before snatching her handbag and pushing her, causing her to fall backwards.

She hit her head as she fell and was helped by a passer-by.

The mugger was as a slim white man in his twenties who was about 6ft,

He was wearing a black jacket with black slim-fitting jeans, a dark woolly hat and gloves and had a scarf covering his mouth.

Witnesses can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
