Detectives in Kettering have released CCTV footage and photos of two men they would like to speak to in connection with an assault in the town.

A woman was repeatedly punched in the face by burglars who broke into her home and tried to steal two of her family’s cars.

The 56-year-old woman confronted the offenders as they were leaving her home at about 5.20pm on Friday March 14.

The two men had unsuccessfully tried to force open a side door of the house in Neale Avenue, before going to the rear of the property and entering through the back door.

Once inside, they took the keys to two cars and left the house. It was at this stage the woman confronted them.

During the confrontation, one of the men punched her in the face six times.

The men then ran away into Hallwood Road, without taking the car keys.

Both men were white, slim and in their early 20s. Once was just under 6ft and the other was slightly shorter with short dark hair.

DC Greg Hemmington, said: “This was a horrific attack on a woman in her own home, who was only trying to protect her property.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may recognise the two men pictured in the CCTV footage or who may have seen them running away into Hallwood Road.

“Witnesses or anyone with information about this incident can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
