Northamptonshire Co-op raided by gang for second time in seven months

The Co-op, Richmond Road, Towcester.

The Co-op, Richmond Road, Towcester.

Burglars have stolen a large amount of cigarettes from a Co-op store in Towcester for the second time in seven months.

Three men broke into the store in Richmond Road between 3am and 4am on Saturday and filled a number of green plastic bin liners with cigarettes.

The men wore dark clothes and had their faces covered.

In June last year, three masked men broke into the same store in the middle of the night and threatened a member of staff with a knife before stealing a large quantity of cigarettes.

On this occasion, cigarettes were loaded into five blue tote boxes and wheeled out on a trolley.

Witnesses, or anyone with information about either burglary, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
