Northampton woman arrested for possessing gun and ammunition

A 21-year-old woman from Northampton has been arrested for possession of a gun and live ammunition.

Northamptonshire Police carried out a series of raids in the town yesterday and seized the gun after executing a warrant at an address in Briar Hill.

More than 50 officers were involved in the day of action which also resulted in arrests in Kettering and was part of Operation Guardian.

A large quantity of counterfeit money was recovered following a raid at Bar Qbano, Kettering and a 47-year-old man has been arrested for handling stolen goods.

A 29-year-old man was also arrested in St Michael’s Gardens, Kettering for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Senior investigating officer Chief Inspector Nick Purdie said: “This week’s operations are targeted at organised criminals who supply our communities with drugs.

“It has been extremely successful in disrupting such activities and I am very pleased we have made some good arrests and recovered significant items.”
