A man has died following a crash on a Northamptonshire road.

The incident happened on Banbury Lane at Thorpe Mandeville at 7.40pm on Friday, December 14.

A black VW Golf, being driven by a 21-year-old woman from Chacombe, and a black MG BGT, being driven by a 47-year-old man, collided.

Today, Wednesday, police named the driver who died as Edward Martin. He is believed to have lived on the border of Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire close to Banbury.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “As a result of the collision, the 47-year-old man sustained fatal injuries.

“The 21-year-old woman driver of the Golf received minor injuries and was taken to Horton General Hospital in Banbury.”

“Officers from the collision investigation team are working to establish the cause.”

Witnesses can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
