A man tried to steal a teenage girl’s mobile phone while she was stood at the junction of Edinburgh Road and Kingsthorpe Grove in Northampton yesterday (Wednesday).

The 16-year-old and her friend were stood at the junction at about 4pm when a man ran towards them and tried to grab the teenager’s iPhone, pushing her to the ground in the process.

The teenager managed to keep hold of her phone and the man ran off.

He was a dark-skinned Eastern European-looking man, aged in his late 20s, 5ft 9in, of average build and with short dark-coloured hair. He had dark stubble and was wearing a burgundy hooded top with light-coloured lettering on, with the hood up and blue jeans. He spoke with an accent.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “Police officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may recognise the description of the offender.”
