Man in his pants was carrying a carving knife

A 44-year-old man who threatened a man with a carving knife outside his flat, while wearing only a pair of underpants and a T-shirt, has been given a suspended prison sentence.

James Dunkley, of Haselrig Square, Camp Hill, Northampton, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place on November 25.

Northampton Crown Court heard Dunkley was seen by a nearby van driver coming out of a block of flats and threatening a man with a carving knife.

Dunkley later went back inside the block of flats and the argument then continued through a kitchen window.

Judge Bray, sentencing, said he gave Dunkley credit for his early guilty plea but found that he must give him a custodial sentence.

Dunkley was sentenced to 30 weeks in prison, suspended for two years.
