A man whose body was found by a cyclist in the early hours of Thursday morning died after becoming disorientated and succumbing to the weather conditions, police have said.

The 35-year-old from St James was found on the cycle path between Hunsbury Hill Avenue and Sixfields Stadium in Northampton at 3am. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Insp Steve Pace from Northamptonshire Police said: “Because of the sudden unexplained circumstances the death was treated as suspicious but a post-mortem has revealed that it was not.

“It is sadly believed the deceased became disoriented and has succumb to the weather conditions.”

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a man walking in the St James or Sixfields area between 3pm on Wednesday and 2.50am on Thursday to call them on 03000111222.

The man’s family have been informed of his death. A report has been prepared for the coroner
