A bouncer was left requiring stitches after he was attacked inside a bar in Northampton town centre.

Police have made an appeal for witnesses following an assault at Balestra bar, in Market Street, on Sunday between 3am and 3.30am.

While intervening in an argument between two men inside the bar, a member of the club’s door staff was assaulted by another man, leaving him requiring stitches.

Police say he was “struck to the head”, while witnesses have told the Chron how the bouncer was bottled.

The attacker was then kicked out of the bar by the doorman.

The man is described as white, 5ft 6ins and of “a larger build”. He had short hair and was wearing a black sweatshirt with a white logo, dark trousers and white trainers. He may have been wearing headphones.

Officers would also like to speak to the two men who were arguing, who were both described as white, around 5ft 10ins and of slim build.

One was wearing a yellow t-shirt with a blue logo and the other was wearing a dark top.

They were both thought to be aged about 19 years old.
