The county’s police commissioner has urged residents to comment on his plans for the force before it is too late.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Adam Simmonds, published his first police and crime plan this month, revealing proposals to form a reservist police force and cut violent crime by 40 per cent.

He says the plan will shape how policing priorities and criminal justice will be achieved across Northamptonshire, with it set to begin in full on April 1.

So far, more than 1,000 people have provided feedback to the draft plan.

Mr Simmonds says it has also been shared across a wide range of communities and agencies, including Neighbourhood Watch, parish councils, members of the police force as well as the public.

Consultation on the plan closes tomorrow.

Mr Simmonds said: “I remain committed to delivering a policing service the public of Northamptonshire can be proud of and one which delivers a victim centred service. I want to hear people’s views on how I plan to do this.”
