BREAKING NEWS: Illegal immigrant arrested while working in Northampton supermarket

AN illegal immigrant, who was arrested during a raid on a Northampton convenience store, has been deported back to India, officials have confirmed.

The 25-year-old man was one of two Indians caught by UK Border Agency officers during a raid at Costcutter, in Farmfield Court, in Thorplands, last Wednesday.

Checks revealed the man had overstayed his visa. As officers entered the premises, he attempted to run out of the shop through from the rear of the building, but was captured by officers waiting at the back door.

The second man, who was aged 20, was found to have entered the UK illegally. He was released on immigration bail while the agency works to obtain an emergency travel document to return him to India.

The business faces a potential fine of up to £20,000 – £10,000 per offender – for employing the illegal workers.

Chief Immigration Officer, Melanie Partridge, said: “We are out in Northamptonshire regularly – tracking down illegal workers and the businesses which employ them. We will not tolerate illegal working which undercuts wages and exploits vulnerable staff. We do not expect employers to be immigration experts but they must make basic checks on migrant workers before they employ them.

Apparently the Costcutter on the Welly Road (opposite bar serenghetto) has one or two illegals, it's not uncommon. We harp on about immigrants taking our jobs, but to be fair, we have turned into quite a lazy bunch, who consider many jobs beneath us. I appreciate I am generalising, but that chicken doesn't fry itself, the bin in your office at work doesnt empty itself, and the crap you order off the internet does not leap into the van of its own accord.

Costcutters now have to pay a very large fine. As this is a local convenience store and post office used by hundreds of people every day, let's hope it doesn't have to close.

why don`t we do like the Australians do with their border force and put them on the next flight out of the country our people release them on bail and they just take off to other parts of the country a friend that runs a business was interviewing candidate`s for a position and one Guy openly admitted that he had four different addresses in the Uk

Would have to agree. When our own government admits they don't know the numbers it suggests a policy of 'opening the flood gates'. Which was fine a few years ago when we had massive sheds next to the motorways that needed filling to supply the supposed demand in retail. Except that many of these business parks & vast warehouses (prologis parks?) have massive warehouses that are empty. Fast forward a few years & you have people like Blacks leisure in trouble, the whole economy in trouble, about to get worse because of Oil. All we ever wanted was SKILLED labour regardless of race. But we open the flood gates to the unskilled.

zeeozzy...your stupid comment encapsulates exactly what is wrong with our country. Any attempt to apply our laws (legally enacted by our democratically elected government), is met with childish cries of 'racist' if there is even the slightest suggestion that the law is applied to a non-British person (of whatever colour, ethnic origin or religion). You will find this hard to accept, but your views are very much in the minority.

Why is it racist? Its a fact there are high numbers of people here illegally that still havent been caught. Whats wrong with this country is that you are not allowed freedom of speech when it comes to immigration matters because you get branded racist by people like you.

Was it a "High risk scenario" being acted out by our Police?

How can they release a person on bail ,when they know they will just diappear into the workwork yet again? Lets face it most people who run the shops or takeaways are not of UK decendents and they couldnt care less about the laws of the land,if they think they are doing a fellow country man a favour. The other point to this is it is hard enough at the moment to get a job, with the massive in flux from all over the world coming to the UK ,let alone illegals taking what jobs could go to a UK citizen!
