Body found in the river by the marina, Becket's Park.

Police have this afternoon confirmed a body discovered in the River Nene in Northampton last week is a Polish national who went missing in January.

Andrzej Dziadosz, aged 46, went missing on January 26.

His body was found in the River Nene, near Victoria Promenade last Tuesday by a kayaker who was travelling down the Nene on the way to Becket’s Park.

A police spokesman today said: “The formal identification of a body discovered in the River Nene in Northampton on Tuesday, March 5, has taken place.

“It is that of Andrzej Dziadosz, aged 46, of Northampton, who went missing on Saturday, January 26.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and officers will be preparing a report for the coroner.”

Speaking to the Chronicle & Echo last week, the kayaker, who has asked not to be named, said: “I was heading down the river to go on a picnic in the park with my family when I got to Morrisons and found the body.

“At first I thought it was a cuddly toy or something, but then I saw the face and I knew it was a body.

“It looked as though it had been in the river for quite some time, so it was a shocking discovery to make.”

Specialist divers led the recovery of the body.
