Binman injured after collision with car in Northamptonshire village

A refuse collector has been injured after he was involved in a collision with a car in the village of Old, near Northampton.

The collision, which took place on Wednesday, involved a black Honda CRV, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Spratton, which was travelling towards Walgrave.

As the car was overtaking a stationary refuse collection vehicle, it was in collision with one of the operatives.

The collision happened in Lamport Road, in the centre of the village, at about 8.15am.

The binman, an 18-year-old man from Northampton, was taken to University Hospital Coventry, with suspected pelvic and head injuries.
