An Asian man and three Chinese people were assaulted in unprovoked attacks in Northampton, which police believe were linked and carried out by eastern European men.
The first incident, in Countess Road, saw an Asian man suffer a fractured eye socket and two black eyes, and during the second, in Marefair, a group of three Chinese friends were kicked and punched.
Both attacks were unprovoked, and the victims were approached from behind. They both happened between 8pm and 8.45pm on Wednesday, December 12.
In the first incident, the man was walking along Countess Road near the junction with Spencer Bridge Road. He had noticed two white men coming out of Victoria Park and was then aware of footsteps behind him.
As he turned he was punched to the face and fell to the ground, and he was then beaten while on the floor.
The offenders are described as white, of athletic build, aged around 20 and wearing hooded tops. The victim said two women may also have been in attendance.
In Marefair, the two men and a woman were walking towards town from the railway station.
They were also approached from behind and assaulted. The woman was kicked and fell to the ground, and both men were punched and kicked.
The first offender is described as white, 5ft 11ins tall, aged 20 to 25 and of skinny build. The second was white, aged around 20, of skinny build with a grey top.
