Police have removed 180 mature cannabis plants from a house in Brackley.

The officers, from the Brackley Safer Community Team, carried out a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a property in Laws Croft following reports of a strange smell and suspicious behaviour nearby.

The plants were removed from three rooms in the property and a vehicle was also seized.

A 49-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and is now in custody at the Criminal Justice Centre in Northampton.

A guard has been in place at the scene since the discovery yesterday afternoon and a forensic examination has been taking place this morning.

Sgt Steve Neal, of the South Northamptonshire Safer Community Team, said: “We will not tolerate drugs offences in Brackley.

“Where intelligence suggests this activity is taking place, we will seek to gain the necessary evidence to support criminal charges. By working together, we can help all concerned.”

Witnesses or anyone with information, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
